I've always loved sports and being active. I grew up playing softball and volleyball, and enjoyed the science of the body and learning how intricately God put our bodies together. I studied Health and PE in college, coached for a few years, and earned my certification to be a personal trainer. During high school, college, and afterwards, I ate all "diet" foods (or, as I now call them "fake foods") which are made of lots of chemicals, fillers, fake sugars, and harmful fats and oils. I didn't really think much about it...If the package said "low fat" or "non-fat" I assumed it was good for me.
In my late twenties, my hair line started to recede and my hair was thinning. I couldn't lose weight (even though I was eating hardly any calories and working out 6 days/week). I assumed it was my hormones because I was getting older and knew that as I neared 30 that things would change.
Around this same time, I started reading about the harm of processed foods and benefits to whole foods but was hesitant to believe. I read a book by Jillian Michaels called "Master Your Metabolism" while I was living overseas in Northern Africa. I learned quickly that I could eat foods to help balance my hormones and get my body to work FOR me, not just work to survive. In Africa, the food wasn't processed - they ate real foods, cooked at home, and went to the market daily. So, I thought this would be an easy time for me to try the whole foods way of life. I couldn't believe how my body responded. My hair grew back! My acne cleared up, and I lost weight, even though I was eating more and working out less. Needless to say, I have continued this way of life and am enjoying it!
My workouts/training plans and doTERRA oils are just an extension of this journey. I'm excited to share my journey with you and look forward to hearing all about you and your wellness adventures!
